Design & Prototyping

Design of the proposed solution is undertaken next, and this may involve one or more iterations until a satisfactory solution is achieved.

This involves consideration of many factors, including specifications, product standards, functionality, mechanical fit, interface, design-for-manufacture (DFM), design-for-test (DFT), tooling requirements, drafting key documents, cost and reliability. This is a highly collaborative process that involves the customer with our design team to work towards the optimum solution.

Our key suppliers may also collaborate closely with us in specifying components and materials and in designing new ones as required. It is through this process that we make an initial assessment of the effectiveness of the design in meeting the requirements of the Design Brief and identifying any critical-to-quality (CTQ) factors in the design.
